Where does the Blue Line go?
The Blue Line runs from Franconia-Springfield in southern Fairfax County, Virginia through Alexandria (King Street-Old Town), past Reagan National Airport, through the Pentagon, across the Potomac into downtown D.C. (including Rosslyn, Foggy Bottom, Metro Center, and the Smithsonian), then continues east through Capitol Hill, Stadium-Armory, and into Prince George's County, Maryland ending at Downtown Largo.

As of June 2025, Blue Line service hours are: Monday through Thursday 5:00 AM to midnight, Friday 5:00 AM to 2:00 AM, Saturday 6:00 AM to 2:00 AM, and Sunday 6:00 AM to midnight. Hours may vary on holidays and special events.
How often does the Blue Line run?
Blue Line trains run every 8 minutes during weekday peak hours (5:00–9:30 AM and 3:00–7:00 PM), every 12 minutes during off-peak periods, and every 15 minutes after 9:30 PM daily.
How much does the Blue Line cost to ride?

Does the Blue Line go to the airport?
Yes! The Blue Line directly serves DCA–National Airport (DCA). The station is located adjacent to the airport terminals, making it one of the most convenient ways to travel to and from Reagan National. The trip from Metro Center to the airport takes approximately 15 minutes. For Dulles International Airport (IAD), transfer to the Silver Line at Rosslyn or Metro Center.
What transfers can I make on the Blue Line?
The Blue Line connects to all other Metro lines at six transfer stations: Rosslyn (Orange and Silver lines), Metro Center (Red, Orange, and Silver lines), L’Enfant Plaza (Green, Yellow, Orange, and Silver lines), Pentagon (Yellow Line), Stadium-Armory (Orange and Silver lines), and King Street-Old Town (Yellow Line). At King Street-Old Town, you can also connect to Amtrak and VRE commuter rail.

A complete end-to-end ride from Franconia-Springfield to Downtown Largo takes approximately 52 minutes. The Blue Line covers 30.8 miles and passes through 28 stations across Virginia, the District of Columbia, and Maryland. The first segment of the Blue Line opened in 1977.
Which Blue Line stations have parking?
The following Blue Line stations have parking facilities: Franconia-Springfield, Van Dorn Street, King Street-Old Town, Stadium-Armory, Addison Road-Seat Pleasant, Morgan Boulevard, and Downtown Largo. Parking is free on weekends and holidays. On weekdays, daily rates range from $4.95 to $5.20.
Does the Blue Line go to Old Town Alexandria?
Yes, the Blue Line serves Old Town Alexandria via the King Street-Old Town station. From there, riders can take the free King Street Trolley to reach shops, restaurants, and the waterfront along King Street. The station also connects to the Yellow Line, Amtrak, and VRE commuter rail.
